Kowabunga Blog - Insights from the Kowabunga Affiliate Team

I recently read that Shawn Collins, the beloved guru of the Affiliate Industry, was retiring from affiliate management. Im announcing today that Im doing just the opposite. Im getting back into the game.
For the last six months, Ive been working as the Director of the Affiliate Network here at Think Partnership, which includes both Kowabunga and Primary Ads. Since then, Ive built a great team of affiliate managers for both networks that communicate well with all of our affiliates and give them the best possible advice on how to increase commissions. But THK was still searching for a senior affiliate manager for Kowabunga. We needed someone to step in and talk with those super affiliates in and out of the network.
This is what I love to do. I finally found my purpose here at THK. I am the new Senior Affiliate Manager for Kowabunga. I like talking to Zac Johnson and Connie Berg and Barry Boone. I also like working with the merchants in our network, like my buddies Chris Thompson at Boca Java or Robb Capielo at the Cigar Store. I am here to help them increase sales, period. Im the network guy in between the affiliates and the merchants. They could find each other without me and prosper but my job is to make sure that those relationships quadruple.
Kowabunga is going to help its affiliates explode with prosperity in 2008 or I’m not the Marketing Gorilla. Spread the word, our team will be talking to you very soon.
There is a growing number of affiliates, merchants and industry gurus gathering on Twitter and Facebook. Some have developed apps to capitalize on the traffic while others are there for the networking.
Sam Harrellson asks on Cost Per News about the purpose Twitter serves for marketers: “Can you successfully market something on Twitter? Yes and no.”
The discussions are growing as well as the number of us using the service. Look for your colleagues on Twitter and join the Kowabunga group on Facebook. We’ll see you there.

Ive used www.protopage.com as my custom homepage for the last three years. Its a great organizing tool and replaces the need for me to use the Bookmarks or Favorites Tab in my browser. When I use other computers, all I have to do is login in to my protopage account.
I’ve got four fields of links on my personal page Each one has 10-20 links, for example:
Daily Used links like Gmail, CNN, Twitter and Facebook
Affiliate Resources such as Shawn Collins Affiliate Tip Blog
Affiliate Program Links so I can keep up with the Jones’
THK Dashboards organized so I can dive deep into Kolimbo and Primary Ads
The idea is to create your own page, lay it out how you would use it best and categorize the links. You can add RSS feeds, weather, maps, calendars and dozens of widgets. But I’ve seen the widgets slow down the loading time, so I stick to the hotlink fields.
They really need an affiliate program…

Since we’ve upped the number of posts here on the KB blog and motivated some of our better subscribers lately, we’ve hit a new high of visitors. In the first 11 days of December we’ve already matched our July record. The fall months were a bit light because we didn’t have time to post content. But we are back and we promise to keep giving you useful information about affiliate marketing, the Kowabunga network and our newest merchants.
Thanks for supporting us.
The Kowabunga Affiliate Management Team.
Congratulations to Christopher Dittemore, owner of ListLair.com, for signing up and being assigned the affiliate ID of 10,000 in the Primary Ads CPA network, part of Think Partnership.
Christopher signed up tonight at 8:00 and was assigned to Ross Moore, a Primary Ads Affiliate Manager. Christopher is from Waterford, MI and we wish him the best of luck.
His reply back to our Welcome email tonight was perfect. “Now, let’s go make some money!”

I am proud to present our newest addition to the Kowabunga Affiliate Management Team. Amanda Shadle joined us last week as an assistant affiliate manager. She’s already part of the family here.
Previously, Amanda was employed as a Merchant Processing Manager. Amanda is a graduate of Susquehannock High School in Glen Rock, Pa. She will be the glue that brings all of us on the team together.
This is big for our affiliates because now they have four full-time Kowabunga team members dedicated solely to them. Our team is growing as well as the client services team. My previous post on Customer Service is proof positive that we are headed in the right direction.
CLEARWATER, Fla.–Think Partnership (AMEX:THK), the leading provider of interactive performance-based advertising networks and technology platforms, reported record Internet search results for ValidClick/ValidClick AdExchange in October and November 2007.
Thinks ValidClick search network has been migrated into the ValidClick AdExchange, the companys new advertising marketplace officially introduced at the beginning of November. The dramatic growth in searches on the legacy ValidClick search network as reported last month continues on the new ValidClick AdExchange. Searches in November grew by 30% over October and by 208% over September. December numbers are also expected to rise substantially as the result of adding new networks, advertisers, and publishers during the busy holiday shopping season.
The launch of the ValidClick AdExchange with Fair Isaac Corporation has created a unique platform that can dramatically improve the ROI of Internet advertisers and publishers, said Scott P. Mitchell, Think Partnerships CEO and president. The potential of this technology to expand our distribution channels is reflected in these numbers and we see this positive trend continuing.

Primary Ads, our CPA network at Think Partnership is closing in on its 10,000th affiliate ID sometime this week. We keep a pretty tight ship on who we let into the program but hopefully one lucky high volume affiliate will strike it rich with that ID.
We can’t assign it. ID’s are given on a first come first serve basis. So if you think you have what it takes to become an affiliate in Primary Ads, now is the time to see if you hit the lottery with the coolest login number. If Affiliate ID 10,000 is approved, I’ll make them famous.
Remember, we are very picky. Demonstrate to us how you will promote our high converting exclusive offers and be ready to answer the phone when our managers call to verify your account.
Apply now at Primary Ads.
Apply to the Microsoft Affiliate Network to get all the payout information.
You will earn cash for each new U.S. based free installation.

Powered by Kowabunga MyAP9 software, the program manages affiliate sign-ups, provides marketing collateral and tracks affiliate sales through to payment, with reporting software to manage monthly affiliate commission payments.
It’s a great program according to BIG ON Health director, Iain MacGillivray;
“We have developed a Big On Health Affiliate Program which offers our affiliate partners excellent commissions on our diverse range of products, and we have produced a set of excellent marketing collateral which they can easily install into web pages and use to sell Big On Health Natural Health supplements to their customer base.

CLEARWATER, Fla.–Think Partnership Inc. (AMEX:THK), the leading provider of interactive performance-based advertising networks and technology platforms, reported Cyber Monday marketing statistics generated by holiday season online shoppers. These were recorded by the companys new ValidClick AdExchange, the industrys first open, quality-controlled, pay-per-click (PPC) marketplace.
ValidClick AdExchange revealed a substantial surge in commercial searches on the first Monday of the holiday shopping season, which were made predominately for its electronics advertisers.
Gaming was a major hot search button, with clicks on advertisers of PC Games vaulting into the top 10 for the day. Clicks for desktop and laptop computer ads also increased markedly. Perhaps not surprisingly, a similar increase in clicks on the terms credit cards, credit card consolidation, and cash advance were recorded.
Cyber Monday click analysis from the ValidClick AdExchange also showed the Sony Playstation 3 may be gaining ground on its competitors in terms of interest, but the Nintendo Wii still dominates. Wii garnered more than 46% of gaming console related clicks on Monday, while Playstation 3 was in second place with just over 37%. The XBox 360 related clicks amounted to about 17% of all gaming clicks.
Other holiday trends were also evident, including increases in click-share for hotel reservations and airline tickets, as well as for online personals.
If you’ll kindly notice we finally changed the masthead here on the Kowabunga blog to reflect the new logo.
And if you are lucky enough to check out the KB blog during the day, you might see the new mascots we have here at the office on the webcam. Fun, cuddly Sea Monkeys in their Kowabunga surf theme. Here’s a picture of their office habitat.
