E-commerce broke all the records and the 100 Billion barrier in 2006. A big part of the jump was the wildly successful Christmas shopping season. Over the 2006 holiday shopping season e-commerce sales hit $24.6 billion, which is up 26% over 2005 sales. While retail sales growth figures were way down and only fared a 2.5% – 3.5% increase.
Speaking of Holiday sales, what day ended up being the biggest? Eday? Cyber Monday? Nope.
It was Wednesday December 13th. Which I now officially crown Wild Web Wednesday.
According to comScore Networks, online sales for 12 days during the November/December holiday season surpassed the $600 million mark — each day.
