CJ Launches New Web Services Division and Forum
CJ just announced at CJU that the new Web Services division is open for business. Check out the Web Services division here which includes sample codes and demo videos. One of the demo videos shows how to make CJ datafeeds into keyword triggered contextual ads. Cool stuff! They even have a forum for developer and merchant discussions. Wow CJ has an open forum? Well at least this division does. (Many may remember that CJ had an affiliate forum years ago but closed it.) Well here’s the Web Services scoop from Lisa at Revenue Magazine.
CJ’s New Web Services – “Advertisers can now offer affiliates enhanced access to their product catalog data feeds. Advertisers can also create their own branded experience for their affiliates. For publishers Web Services provides the ability to perform searches based on keyword, UPC, manufacturer, model number, advertiser, SKU and more. That means that a shoe affiliate doesn’t need to download an entire product catalog from a merchant they can simply define download criteria such as only get product information on “red shoes.”
Visit Affiliate Marketing Buzz – the Affiliate News portal. Its a great way to keep up with all the CJU news from all the affiliate marketing bloggers – all in one place. AMBUZZ just launched in Beta this week and has lots more features coming. Stay tuned for the official announcement.

It was 3+ years in the making. I think this post is the first overall positive blog post, comment or forum post about CJ which I ever did (or can recall).
It was usually always something bad or something good followed by “but…” that I had tao say about them, but (hehe)…. it seems that the Web Services for CJ are still as much beta as they used to.
The Forum starts already with threads piling up about issues with the services rather than successful tests or implementations.
… but CJ is responding to issues (in public) as you can see here.
The last time when I saw that was around 2002/2003 when Todd Crawford was still responding to affiliates in the larger affiliate forums. That stopped at some point in 2003 and CJ remained silent since then until now.
Kudos where kudos are justified.
CJ’s competition is “cooking” too. I am looking for some exciting new developments in affiliate marketing over the next 4-6 months. It was much too less innovation happening in affiliate marketing lately IMO.
For the ones that like to jump into this new stuff, have a look at my Web Services Resources for Developers, Affiliate Program APIs and Web Services and last but not least my article XML Datafeeds and Webservices for Affiliates. Webservices.XML.com which is managed by O’Reilly is also a good source of information to this topic.
Cheers,
Carsten
