CJ or AzoogleAds? Which Network Do Affiliates Prefer?
In an informal poll over at the hot, new, very active WickedFire forum – 75% of the responding affiliates prefer Azoogle over CJ. The forum thread like many others around the net also shows that Azoogle is so swamped with apps that it’s taking awhile to get affiliates approved. Full disclosure – AzoogleAds is one of my 5 Star clients, but still I think polls like this shed lots of light on what affiliates like and why. Granted this is a small sampling, but another bigger poll awhile back at the SitePoint Affiliate Forums showed a somewhat similar trend in favor of Azoogle.
Many affiliates don’t realize the distinction between affiliate networks (CJ) and CPA networks (Azoogle) so I explained at the forum that the 2 are different animals. My un-biased opinion follows.
“CJ is more of a “retail” affiliate program, paying you for SALES of actual products, although they do have some lead gen programs like mortgage and insurance.
Azoogle is more of a CPA network – the A stands for Action – not Sale. So they have OFFERS and the action you get paid for could be a freebie offer, a lead form or some other action.
If you have lots of GENERAL traffic or certain types of traffic, than Azoogle can make you lots more because the consumer is getting freebies or just filling out a form without having to buy anything. Example: if you have lots of teen and young adult traffic a free ringtone offer may work well. So the high paying offers combined with great support are some of the reasons affiliates love Azoogle so much.
If you have targeted traffic for a specific niche and know how to market though CJ, you can still make lots of money. I know many affiliates making 10K and up a month. Many of our programs are on CJ so I’ve seen the stats and there is big money to be made, but it can take a little more skill and more targeted traffic to generate good income. Just throwing up a few banners with untargeted traffic won’t generate many sales.”
