hannamyluv says: “I have a pet peeve. It is a “buy button” that sucks. I HATE them with a passion. My poor husband has to listen to me rant for an hour sometimes when I come across particularly bad examples of them. I think some merchants are trying to hide their buy buttons, they are done that badly.
It is my firm belief that a buy button is the single most important part of conversion factor on an ecommerce page. You can convince your customers until you are blue in the face, you can have all the best copy and pictures and advertising in the world, you can have a product that is so good that sells itself, you can have a page that comes up #1 for a term that gets a million searches and it won’t mean a darn thing if the customer can’t find the buy button. Too many times on websites a buy button is treated as a design element rather than a functional element.”
So right now before the New Year starts, go over and read this great article and 3 page discussion thread called Does your buy button suck? by hannamyluvat WebMasterWorld. Then with her tips in mind, look at your own site and ask yourself honestly “Does my buy button suck?”
