One of our clients RevenueWire just penned one of the best affiliate marketing posts I’ve read in a LONG time. It has SO many great points in it, that you just need to go read the whole thing. I pulled out a couple paragraphs to share.
*Advertising Disclosure Policy*Affiliate Marketing Today – A Real Life David & Goliath Story
In recent months affiliate marketing has been under relentless attack from the “powers that be.” From state tax law reform to widespread Google Slaps, affiliates are getting their first taste of the consequences of new found fortune and economic power. So where does that leave affiliates and their networks going forward?
Yes, recent developments could easily get affiliates more than a little torn up inside. For one, many state legislatures are bringing the hammer down on the world of affiliated e-commerce in order to find ways to pay off massive accumulated debt, which means affiliate marketers need to have even more intestinal fortitude and savvy than ever in order to succeed and make a living.
Second, Google’s authoritative approach to content regulation has put a lot of affiliates under the gun, forcing them to rebuild, rethink, and completely rejig their campaigns or even start again from scratch. Agility has therefore emerged as one of the cardinal virtues for affiliate marketers. The ability to take a hit and adapt your campaign strategy quickly and accordingly makes all the difference in staying competitive and profitable.
For that reason, focusing our attention on just a few top-performing affiliates, hoping they can carry the industry forward all on their own, is dangerously under-productive. And here is the paradigm shift. The industry needs an influx of new minds, new strategies, and new approaches to meet the challenges of the day in innovative ways – and they will come from the scores of affiliates who aren’t supers.

I read the whole article and I really like this line: stick to your plan, make the necessary adaptations, and come up with new ways to continue to grow your online revenue. This line does not only apply to affiliate marketers but to others as well. It is a tough world out there but just have a plan and stick to it, adapt because everything is constant change and continue in the learning process.

The part of this article that I feel the strongest about is the part about the google slaps.
So many marketers are so discouraged about what google is doing, and has done. I love it.
Google is doing the same thing that we should all be doing as marketers; providing value to there visitors. When someone is searching for a specific keyword, Google is taking steps to ensure the most relevant, updated information is displayed. This is doing nothing but helping the vitality of their business tremendously.
This is the same thing we should all be doing as marketers; from the brand new beginners that started last night, to the super duper affiliates that have been in business for an eternity.
The people who are the most upset about the steps Google has taken, are the same people that have been participating in black hat SEO techniques, and the like.
Weeding out these people is just what our economy as a whole needs. Visitors will have more confidence searching, and shopping, online. Also, the marketers that truely deserve success will have a much better shot at attaining it.
Thank You-
Matthew Zinda

Negative things also happen for affiliates who using the SEO as their main marketing efforts. Nowadays, rss submit and social bookmarking is not taking tremendous effects for a website, sure this is a hard attack.
I agree that focusing on what convert and leave others that still under development is wise thing to do.
You need to fight your desire and curiosity of your new website that promote a new product, fight it and only focus to what already work. For example, doing SEO for ten websites is taking lot of time while not these 10 websites convert well, but if 3 or 4 of them convert well, focus just on them, put them on the right spot of search engine, you will doing great.
Later, once these converting sites take its place, you can start focusing on the rest of the websites.
I guess, no matter what type of marketing you use, PPC, Article marketing, media buying, or SEO, focusing on what convert is better. We don’t want our most converting sites get slapped or loose its conversion just because we focusing on websites that still on progress.

Coming up with a real, legitimate work at home business plan takes a little savvy in today’s internet age. There are a multitude of potential money making opportunities on the internet, all of which sound good when you land on their splash page. Of course, narrowing down the potential income builders from the real income builders starts with knowing what kind of business you want to get into.
