If you are new to affiliate marketing, I can’t stress enough that finding a great 1st niche is the most important foundational step toward building a strong affiliate business. A good niche is one that has lots of people interested, yet does not have too much competition. That’s the hard part – finding a niche that isn’t already too saturated. (Note: I said 1st niche, once you have some experience you can go after more competitive niches.)

It really helps as well, if you can find a niche you know about and hopefully are passionate about. Following are some very good resources and tools for doing niche research that will help you find that perfect niche.
