Don't forget people promoting Rhapsody and eMusic. If you ever bid on the keyword term "Music Downloads" then your account was automatically banned.

Personally I have never had much success with adwords marketing, tried it a few times in various forms of using various techniques - but without much success. I am sure it is me though, and even though I think I am following insructions of individuals with apparent success - I in some way might not be.

It would be a shame to get ones account permanently banned during "trial" attempts such as these. But probably a lot worse for people who have success with this type of marketing, having success and relying on the income generated then having the accounts disabled.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to refrain from "experimentations" during "cleansing periods" such as these...

Linda,

My opinion is this whole "death of" and "rebirth of" stuff boils down to one simple concept (that breaks down into other topics, but that's too long for a blog comment)...

The one concept? Work.

What Google is doing in my opinion, in the global picture, is removing the "shortcuts" that affiliates are taking to make money.

In other words, affiliates are going to actually have to demonstrate that the pages they produce, the links they link to, and the businesses they build deliver on Google's promise to it's searchers.

Adding value...the more the merrier.

And the funny thing is, in my opinion, when you build a site that delivers value to the searcher...your business' results will reflect that in proportion to the amount of value you deliver.

That's the short version...but this whole mess is inspiring a LONG article I feel I have to write too :)

Thanks for bringing it up Linda :)
