Affiliates – Overnight Success, Laziness, Loneliness and Diversity
Today I just pulled a variety of motivational posts out of my recent feedreader favorites. Each post features insights about different challenges many affiliates face and offers tips for how to overcome them. Pick one that you can relate to and I hope you’ll get some ideas that will help you be a more productive, successful affiliate.
Affiliates: Stop Waiting for Overnight Success – By Matt McWilliams “What this affiliate wanted to know was how to go from being a newbie to being a $100,000/month affiliate. Of course, we all want to know that, right?”
Looking For A Few Lazy Affiliates… “In my opinion, it’s probably due to a lack of confidence in being able to start or run an affiliate campaign that leads to this “vicious cycle of laziness”. The problem is that confidence doesn’t come until you start on a campaign, possibly mess up, lose a bunch of cash on your first couple of tries, before you find something that sticks. The only cure as far as I’m aware is to stop making excuses and get started.”
Avoiding the Loneliness of the Affiliate Marketer “Being an affiliate marketer can be a lonely career choice. The many hours sitting in front of a computer screen researching products and creating sites can lead to a feeling of isolation. Some people thrive in this environment; but most of us thrive when we interact with like-minded people.”
Diversity Is a Must for Affiliate Marketers “Therefore, when you’re learning about affiliate marketing, don’t learn just one thing, such as PPC. Try to learn how to do two or three different strategies, and build your sites with variety. That way, no one SLAP will take you down.”

I’m exactly like that, driven by fear and a what I did is I put a Nike – Just Do It wallpaper on my desktop. Every time I close another “educational” post with great ideas I look at my desktop and say to myself why not spend another couple of hours implementing that… then you kinda get sucked in by work and don’t stop till late in the morning lol

Great collection of posts Linda. The last one about diversity hit the nail on the head. If you get slapped by Google in your SEO efforts you can always resort to PPC and Facebook ads etc. Sure they cost money, but if you learn these skills you gain some sort of stability.

Linda, thanks for linking to my article. I truly hope that it helps motivate some of the “paralysis by analysis” crowd.
The other posts are great too, in fact, I wrote about the loneliness topic myself on our blog recently referencing the Affiliate Classroom post. I even give a nice plug for your forum
