As far as I have seen the industry people focusing on one site has always won the long race.

Hey Ros, thanks for stopping by and I’m glad you read Jame’s thoughts and agree about focusing on one site.

Jon, I think it’s a very personal decision. Ros, James and I all see the merit of focusing on one site, however there is also the theory of “don’t put all your eggs in one basket” to consider. Plus I imagine many newbies have to try a variety of things before they can even find that one niche site that will work long term.

Building one site is just a business model. Some people choose to build as many smaller sites as possible simply because if one fails you have a few backing you up. Any comments on that ?

Thanks for raising the point about building one site. I might have to add that to the post.

That’s exactly what I did from the beginning – I worked just one dating service review site as an affiliate from 1997 until 2003 – and that’s what I’ve always taught as being the best approach to building a highly successful affiliate marketing business.

Focus on one – make it extremely successful (i.e. so that you can at least double the income from your full-time job, or make more than enough to cover your current expenses) and then think about building a second site.

But ONLY if you have the time.

This was a great find and glad I did, Heading over right now to read up on Rosalind Gardner post about what she would do differently if she was starting affiliate marketing again. Should be a big help.
