April 1st Google News – New Acquisition and New Product Launch
Google to Acquire CJ (Commission Junction)
Looks like Google does not plan to stop its buying spree any time soon. This week it was announced that Google plans to buy Urchin, one of the leading web stats companies.
I heard a strong, but unconfirmed rumor, that Google is planning to buy CJ and put Todd Crawford in charge of the new CJsense division. The new division’s motto will be “All Text Ads, All the Time – Banners SUCK!”
Google’s new PSA (Personal Search Appliance) Beta Test Revealed
I got wind of some of the results from early Google PSA beta testers. In case you have not heard about the new product yet, it’s a revolutionary personal search device, the size of a pager, that can be clipped onto a belt or carried in a purse. It comes with remote Internet access and patent pending visual censors that can search a room or any physical location at the touch of a button.
Families are reporting great results when using the search term “find remote” to find the remote control when the kids hide it and “search for keys” to answer that age old question, “honey where did I leave the keys?”
The new device is not limited however to in-home use. Another market that is being tested is the sports market, for in-field use. Fisherman are getting unusually accurate results using the PSA as a fish finder and golfers are discovering the time saving advantage of the PSA for finding lost balls.
