Stiffing Your Affiliates Doesn’t Pay
It doesn’t pay to stiff your affiliates. The damage it can do to your reputation isn’t worth it. Just think about that! In this day of blogging one upset affiliate can do your brand a world of hurt.
You wouldn’t think a company like Marketing Sherpa would be the one accused of not paying affiliates. See what happens when an affiliate’s legitimate attempts to get paid fall on deaf ears. A situation that could have been rectified a few months ago with a couple hundred dollars turns into a public outcry and I’m sure will cost the company more than the outstanding commission they owe. See comments in the blog.
Warning: It Doesn’t Pay To Be A MarketingSherpa Affiliate
Update: After blogging this, DJ did get a call saying the check was in the mail, so after months of trying to get paid, maybe he finally will.

Thanks for linking to the story!
You got my tone exactly. I practically pleaded with them to pay me so I wouldn’t go public. Of anyone, you’d think they’d be aware of the damage of WOM. I guess not.
We’ll see if I actually get the money. Who knows? For now though, I’m definitely moving to other affiliate programs.
Ah well.

Thanks for letting us know. I just posted a job offer for “payroll” on their site – must bring own capital. I wonder if it will really post…

A similar kind oh thing happened to me recently where this network owed me over $2700 in payments. They didn’t pay me in time because the advertiser wouldn’t pay them, pick their calls or answer their emails. After much going back and forth with the network, they paid me out their pocket. In this case, it was the advertiser who was being a jerk. After all this drama, the advertiser came back to the network asking them to request me run traffic to their offer again. Now, I’m contemplating if I should give them my traffic.
Basically, sometimes you gotta watch out from there shady advertisers too.
