The Future of Affiliate Marketing?
Here’s a thought provoking post for your weekend reading pleasure. Frank Watson over at Search Engine Watch ponders what’s next and/or what’s needed in the world of affiliate marketing.
One of the things he’s suggesting (a super aggregator) is being done by a few companies but not broadly enough. I’m not so sure I agree with his stance but it’s a good read that raises some interesting points overall.
The Future of Affiliate Marketing “Affiliate marketing has had some major ups and downs in its relationship with search — like AdWords limiting the number that will be shown, or banning industries like gambling and adult that were always great sources of income. But there’s room for someone to revitalize the space and help return the profitability, while also making things easier for the entry of Fortune 500 vendors.
Proving how she is always in front of the curve on all things affiliate, Sugarrae wrote a great overview and best practices article on affiliate marketing that holds true today and suggested an idea I have had about improving the industry.”

The benefits of staying small instead of using a super aggregator far outweigh them. You can keep greater control of your business. Sean Rasmussen explains it in his book http://tinyurl.com/re7h7g.
