What were you doing before you got started doing affiliate marketing? Did you have a J.O.B. and quit to do this full-time? Do you still have a J.O.B? Do you do AM from home or have an office? Skip to the bottom if you don’t want to be bored with my background. This thread is really about you!

I am often asked how I got started in the biz. So here is my wild ride to affiliatedom in a nutshell. I had a successful career in traditional sales and sales management for 15 years. Then through a weird series of events, became VP of Internet Marketing for a venture capital company. After they were investigated by the FBI and the Feds came knocking at my door at 7AM to call me as a major witness and confiscated my records (still don’t know for sure what the company did wrong) I started my own SEO company. Against my better judgment I took a J.O.B. offer as eCommerce manager for an online retailer. I started their affiliate program on CJ. I was in charge of numerous divisions of the company and was lucky if I had 15 minutes a day to devote to the affiliate sales channel. I decided I wanted to focus on helping other merchants grow their affiliate programs and help lots of affiliates, instead of being stuck in J.O.B.

I started my own Affiliate Management Consulting Company. One of the 1st clients I worked with I was able to help increase their monthly affiliate revenue from $500K per month to over $3.2 MILLION per month. They were a subsidiary of Ford Motor Credit and I was soooooooo lucky to get them as my 1st client. Next came zZounds, a top musical instruments and DJ equipment etailer and a competitor of my previous employer. Then came DentalPlans, one of the highest earning affiliate programs around. I managed the Irvs Luggage affiliate program and helped to increase their affiliate sales considerably, month after month.

Then decided I want to specialize in affiliate recruitment, affiliate recruiting and affiliate program promotion. 2 years ago, I started working with Linda Woods, the “Affiliate Goddess” and helped her launch her new company, PartnerCentric. Then things really began to rock. Through PC, I started promoting big brands like the National Geographic Store, and the Snapfish, free photo sharing affiliate program as well as a lot of other top affiliate programs and new niche affiliate programs managed by PC. I skipped alot of details but…

Now I’m working out of my home 10 hours a day, 7 days a week and making six figures in my PJ’s - just like many of the affiliates I work with! (Seriously, I never bother to get dressed unless I need to leave the house.) ;-) I am so thankful to have NO boss, NO commute, NO office politics. I just spend my days helping my clients and lots of affiliates make money with affiliate marketing and loving every minute of it!

So how about you??? How did you got started doing affiliate marketing? Did you have a J.O.B. and quit to do this full-time? Do you still have a J.O.B? Do you do AM from home in your PJs like me???
