Impact of the Economy on Affiliate Marketing and More Podcast
Cool new Linkshare publisher tools, ethics in affiliate marketing and how today’s economic problems could affect affiliate marketing, are a just few of the topics you can listen to today while you work. In the “Affiliate Marketing Insider” podcast below, Linda Woods President of PartnerCentric talks with Jonathan Levine Co-President of Linkshare.
The WebmasteRadio Blog bills the show as being about the “health of e-commerce companies doing affiliate programs during this time of economic instability… Linda and Jonathan will discuss how the economy will affect affiliate marketing, where the industry is headed, and how it will affect you.”
I only had a chance to listen to the 1st 1/2 which didn’t go into the economy at all, but it did go into other topics that are important and relevant. After the 1st segment which is largely about Linkshare’s new publisher tools and was actually pretty interesting – the duo goes into issues like ethics, direct linking and merchants using affiliates for SEO benefit.

Great topic. We have found that the economy has had a positive impact on performance marketing. More brands and even more fortune 1000 brands have been asking us to develop performance marketing affiliate programs for them.
Many have tested the waters and had bad experiences due to bad leads. poor partnerships (and all the reasons why we need the PMA) They are looking for a partner they can trust to bring them back into our markets.
Also the amount of new affiliates partnering with us has gone up substantially. i think this is also due to the economy and people looking to be able to take better control of their lives by becoming affiliate marketers.
