New York Asks Overstock Amazon to Join Forces in Tax Lawsuit
I don’t know that much about lawsuits, but just going by the principle that there is more power and safety in numbers, I was a little surprised that when Overstock filed their lawsuit against New York state over the affiliate tax issue, they didn’t join in Amazon’s suit.
It was just reported today that New York State WANTS them to consolidate their suits, so I’m not sure it’s such a good idea. Why would NY want to combine suits unless it was in their best interest???

You mentioned:

Think about it … NY would save BIG bucks by not having to fight multiple (separate) lawsuits. Say10 BIGGIES filed suits against NY, then NY would have to spend 10 times more to defend each one. So of course they would want the suits consolidated.
Would put more pressure on NY then. I say keep the lawsuits separate on the moronic NY legislature. heh heh
My 3 centz, anyway
Have Fun!

Yep I agree. If they think it’s in THEIR best interest to consolidate, then it’s probably not in our best interest.
